Marriage requires constant work
by Atul Bhatia
1. Marriage isn't easy. But then, neither is life. Learn to roll with the punches.
2. Marriage has no scope for complacency - it's constant work. Never take your spouse for granted.
3. If you think you had a hard day at the office, your wife has had a harder time keeping house. And if she works, all the harder. Always compensate for that.
4. My money is our money. Her money is hers. It works!
5. Partners are equal. Maybe different, but equal. Finances may be your forte, children hers, but that doesn't make you in any way superior, a lesson most Indian males forget (or never learnt).
6. Never hid ANYTHING. It'll come out sometime and spoil (if not destroy) the feeling of trust, which is oh, SO important to the marriage.
7. Laugh a lot. At your spouse's jokes. At the insignificant things. At yourself.
8. Enjoy each other's company.
9. Good sex does not create a good marriage. It is the offshoot of one.
10. Change what you can. Accept what you cannot change.
