Sweet Talk your way to SUCCESS!

Forging a cordial relationship with your superior can be as challenging as trying to mend a broken marriage. Sometimes even tougher! If you have the determination, the results can be highly rewarding. Your life will be easier once you get along with his boss. We tell you how you can be in his good books.
1. Better late than never Come in early and leave late.
2. Make sure your tasks are completed on a timely basis. Don't fawn over your boss, as that will get you nowhere.
3. Don't give him any reason to disqualify you as incompetent or unworthy. If he gives you a compliment or a good review, then it's time to thank him.
4. Don't overdo it, but let your boss know you appreciate his kind words. Praise your boss Appreciate your superior whenever he gets it right. Many managers never receive praise because somehow, it is mistakenly believed that appreciation should only flow from managers to employees.
5.You may be nervous about approaching your superior to offer advice, but good managers like getting feedback.
6.Fest of glory Never miss an occasion - Diwali, Christmas, a birthday and an anniversary, of a spouse or child. These are days when you can show your regard in kind without lifting much of an eyebrow of suspicion. Send flowers, appropriate gifts or even just a greeting card or call. This will also put you in the good books with the person whom you boss probably discusses and whines about office stuff.
Virtual network
Take time to connect with your boss on a social networking site, I call these the modern day social clubs of convenience. Seek his advice; get to know him, scrutinise his profile to find something that is common between you. It can be a hobby, a sport or any genre of music. You can ask him to join you in the desired activity or generally chat about the subject in an informal manner. This is sure to give you a one up over your colleagues. Overall trying to show you have a good relationship with your boss requires a lot of investment in terms of energy. But once you are on good terms with him, your success is guaranteed.
