The birth anniversary of Lord Buddha is celebrated by Buddhists across the world as the Buddha Purnima with great enthusiasm . In about 500 B.C. Prince Siddhartha Goutama, was born in the small kingdom of Kapilavastu, now in the Indo-Nepal border.Most of the Budhists live in Asian countries namely India, Nepal, China, Bhutan, Mynmar, Sri Lanka, Japan and Korea.Buddha Purnima falls on the full moon day in the Hindu month of Vaisakh (April/May). Lord Buddha was born on the Full Moon day in the month of Vaisakh in 563 BC. It is also pertinent that Buddha achieved enlightenment and Nirvana (salvation) on the same day (the Full Moon day).
