Independence Day Special-Women Achievers of India

Happy 66th Independence to all!

1.  Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal became the first Indian to win a medal in Badminton at the London Olympics .
2.M C Mary Kom created history in London by becoming the country’s first woman boxer to win a medal at the Olympics. 

3.The first woman in the history of the Indian Army, to be selected for the 'Sword of Honour', Chennai-girl Divya Ajith.

4.A mother of two, 48-year-old Premlata Agarwal became the oldest Indian woman — and the first woman from the Marwari community — to conquer world's tallest peak Mount Everest on May 20, 2011.
5.On Jan 1, 2010 Reena reached the trademark mirrorball in the middle of nowhere that marks the geographic South Pole, becoming the first Indian woman to ski to the southern-most tip of the Earth.
6.Mitali Madhumita in Feb 2011 became India's first female officer to receive the Sena Medal for gallantry.

7.The first woman jawan,35-year-old Sapper Shanti Tigga joined the 969 Railway Engineer Regiment of Territorial Army in October 2011.

8.In a feat that can boost the spirit of adventure among Indian women, 33-year-old Sucheta from Pune, has successfully crossed the arduous 1000 mile (1623 km) stretch of the Gobi desert, the largest in Asia and the fifth largest in the world, in a multi-national expedition.
9.Shail Mishra of Bihariganj locality in Ajmer drives metro train in New Delhi at 120 km per hour and feels honored to be the first woman loco pilot from the state and Delhi.
